Nailpolish  Colour of the Month

Essie 'Splash of Grenadine'

I don't know about all of you, but I have really high expectations when it comes to nail polish. I expect a lot from a brand: good packaging, a decent brush that makes the polish literally glide over my nails, ideally 'one coat and it's done', super fast drying time, gorgeous colour and long lasting wear. I will be honest and say that not many polishes reach the high standards I set. As a result of this, I spend a long time (and money) getting my nails done (generally opting for shellac). However, when I read lots of amazing comments about Essie nail polish I just had to try them out for myself.

I was not optimistic. As I said, I have super high standards but that has made this product even MORE amazing!! I'm going to just talk about one colour in particular 'Splash of Grenadine' which is  definitely my favourite colour and that's why.....**drum roll**....it wins my Nailpolish Colour of The Month!! Tada!!!

Where do I start??!! Just LOOK at the colour!! It is a gorgeous shade of pink with a hint of purple and I fell in love with it immediately. It really is the perfect colour for spring/summer and will be a MUST for me on my European adventures this June!

The packaging is of a really high quality for a nail polish. The brush itself is ideal for painting both fingers and toes. It glides easily over the nails and distributes the polish evenly; giving a really smooth finish. One of the best things is this colour is literally one coat and it's done. This is definitely not sheer which I completely love! It dries quickly and yup, this nail polish has stolen my heart!

Sorry about the shadows, this will take some attempts to master! Anyway, this is how my nails look after ONE coat. It applies really beautifully and I have never found myself having to clean the edges afterwards because the polish has gotten on my fingers. Utterly perfect!

I have been wearing this colour on and off for the past 2 weeks and the amount of compliments I have gotten is AMAZING!! Everyone wants to know what I am using on my nails and most people don't believe it's not shellac. Yeah it has chipped a little here and there but that's so easy to touch up. Other nail polishes become dry and disgusting after a couple of uses but this feels like I am opening a new bottle with each application.

Are there any downsides? Hmm..it's £8.99 a bottle from some Boots stores. (Not all Boots stock Essie so check on their website which I will link below!). Some might say it is a bit 'pricey' but for me, it is totally worth it and here is why:

  • it applies in one easy coat so I am using very little
  • it doesn't dry up and become all 'yucky' like other polishes too
  • it doesn't chip much at all and needs little touch ups, so I save loads!
For me, this polish is totally worth the investment. I bought some other colours (got to love Boots 3 for 2!) but this is my colour of the month. It just reminds me of a gorgeous summer day and will go with pretty much everything, from a white top and denim shorts to a summery dress. The colour is so versatile and pretty. It has proven to be quite the head turner which seems odd for a polish! But is really catches everyones attention (in a positive way!)

This nail polish has stolen my heart! Which colour and brand has stolen yours at the moment? I would love to know what you guys are planning to wear on your nails this summer!
