ASDA NSPA COCONUT BODY BUTTER REVIEW

I want to eat this body butter...

I have really dry skin and I love body butters. I'm currently working my way through about five different butters and have a load still to open. But I bought this one recently and I couldn't wait to try it out!

It is the Asda Nspa Exotically Creamy Coconut Rich Body Butter.

The first thing that caught my attention was the fact it was a COCONUT BODY BUTTER. I love everything and anything coconut. The minute I opened the tub I just thought of summer and Pina Coladas! It  is a really sweet scent (but not sickly) and smells more like coconut cake. I'm not complaining though, the scent is gorgeous! It lasts on my body all day. It is so good that now and again I smell some of the coconut goodness as I am shopping, sitting on the train, walking the dog. I'm really impressed by how long the scent lingers.

The tub itself is 200ml and for £3.00 - TOTAL BARGAIN!! Just now, Asda are doing 2 for £4 and I also bought a Coconut Body Mist (which I will review later) The packaging is not the best (for example, if compared with The Body Shop and I also love their butters). It's see through plastic but to be fair, it does the job and for £3.00, you can't really complain!

The body butter is definitely more of a cream than a butter. It is not hard and has a very creamy consistency (hopefully you guys can see from the picture).

I would recommend using a little (the instructions say to apply generously - do not do that). The product does a long time to penetrate into the skin and even then, my skin felt quite 'sticky' for a long time afterwards. That is the only downside to it but now I just use a lot less and don't seem to have that problem as much!

When it comes to packaging and consistency of the butter, I prefer The Body Shop. Their packaging is faultless and with harder body butters, I don't have this 'sticky' feeling lingering on my skin for a long time. But for coconut scent, Asda definitely beat The Body Shop here.  My perfect coconut body butter would have the Body Shop packaging and 'butter consistency' but with the Asda coconut smell. That would be heaven!

This product is definitely worth a try and for £3.00, is worth the money.

There are others in the Nspa Body Butter collection (which I have linked below). I haven't tried any of these yet but as soon as I do, I will post a review!

Sorry if you guys in the EU or further afield cannot get this product!

Nailpolish  Colour of the Month

Essie 'Splash of Grenadine'

I don't know about all of you, but I have really high expectations when it comes to nail polish. I expect a lot from a brand: good packaging, a decent brush that makes the polish literally glide over my nails, ideally 'one coat and it's done', super fast drying time, gorgeous colour and long lasting wear. I will be honest and say that not many polishes reach the high standards I set. As a result of this, I spend a long time (and money) getting my nails done (generally opting for shellac). However, when I read lots of amazing comments about Essie nail polish I just had to try them out for myself.

I was not optimistic. As I said, I have super high standards but that has made this product even MORE amazing!! I'm going to just talk about one colour in particular 'Splash of Grenadine' which is  definitely my favourite colour and that's why.....**drum roll**....it wins my Nailpolish Colour of The Month!! Tada!!!

Where do I start??!! Just LOOK at the colour!! It is a gorgeous shade of pink with a hint of purple and I fell in love with it immediately. It really is the perfect colour for spring/summer and will be a MUST for me on my European adventures this June!

The packaging is of a really high quality for a nail polish. The brush itself is ideal for painting both fingers and toes. It glides easily over the nails and distributes the polish evenly; giving a really smooth finish. One of the best things is this colour is literally one coat and it's done. This is definitely not sheer which I completely love! It dries quickly and yup, this nail polish has stolen my heart!

Sorry about the shadows, this will take some attempts to master! Anyway, this is how my nails look after ONE coat. It applies really beautifully and I have never found myself having to clean the edges afterwards because the polish has gotten on my fingers. Utterly perfect!

I have been wearing this colour on and off for the past 2 weeks and the amount of compliments I have gotten is AMAZING!! Everyone wants to know what I am using on my nails and most people don't believe it's not shellac. Yeah it has chipped a little here and there but that's so easy to touch up. Other nail polishes become dry and disgusting after a couple of uses but this feels like I am opening a new bottle with each application.

Are there any downsides? Hmm..it's £8.99 a bottle from some Boots stores. (Not all Boots stock Essie so check on their website which I will link below!). Some might say it is a bit 'pricey' but for me, it is totally worth it and here is why:

  • it applies in one easy coat so I am using very little
  • it doesn't dry up and become all 'yucky' like other polishes too
  • it doesn't chip much at all and needs little touch ups, so I save loads!
For me, this polish is totally worth the investment. I bought some other colours (got to love Boots 3 for 2!) but this is my colour of the month. It just reminds me of a gorgeous summer day and will go with pretty much everything, from a white top and denim shorts to a summery dress. The colour is so versatile and pretty. It has proven to be quite the head turner which seems odd for a polish! But is really catches everyones attention (in a positive way!)

This nail polish has stolen my heart! Which colour and brand has stolen yours at the moment? I would love to know what you guys are planning to wear on your nails this summer!

To find out more about Essie, have a look at the following links:

There are also LOADS of sites that sell Essie colours cheaply (from like their Summer 2013 collection that are no longer stocked). Definitely search for these, you can get some gorgeous colours at amazingly cheap prices! (If you want some links to these, drop me an email/tweet!)

Hope you all liked my first review!! And please follow my blog & twitter for more upcoming, honest reviews. If you want me to review something in particular, please let me know and if I can, I will!

Hey everyone and welcome to my blog!

My name is Sarah Ann, I'm 29 and I'm from not so sunny Scotland. Basically, I decided to start this blog for a few reasons: First of all, I love anything beauty and fashion related! Secondly, I spent way too much money on items that for me have just ended up being a bit of a let down, you know? There is nothing more annoying that buying a new foundation, lipstick, cleanser or bath product and finding out it does not really live up to your expectations.

I'm not afraid to admit that I buy a LOT! But more than that, I am always looking for high street dupes for designer brands or products that are cheaper/on offer in specific stores. My collection is forever growing and I thought it was time to share it with the world!!

So welcome to Sparkle on a Shoestring! I'll be reviewing lots of products and just generally filling this with chit chat :)

If you want to get in touch with me then please do!
